Our Story
The House of Prayer Holiness was originally founded in 1975 when the late Elder Paul Christian, Elder Jimmy Wells, and Elder McMillian were all members of Bethesda Apostolic Church. They were inspired to start the work of the Lord naming the church Christ Cathedral on Upton Ave.

Several years later, Elder Christian left and the Elders were the leaders, with Elder Wells being the Elder Primary. The name was changed to "Reasoning Hour House of Prayer" inspired by Isaiah 1:18. As the building eventually went up to sale and could not be purchased, the congregation was forced to meet in the basement of the family of church members. Shortly after worshiping at members homes, we were able to purchase a building on Junction Ave.

With the small membership, there were times when the McMillian family were the only ones in service. After praying, it was decided that Elder McMillian was to become Pastor by the will of God in 1979. At that time the Church was then renamed House of Prayer Holiness Church.

Not too long after, the Lord began to add souls to the body. In 1995 the building on Junction was sold and God gave us our current building of worship on Nebraska Ave. Pastor McMillian has resided over the House of Prayer until 2021 when it was passed on to the present Pastor Jeremy. During all of the time, we have had many experiences, but God has seen us through. We give thanks to God for being so good down through the years, for sending those who have been added and for everyone who has labored with us over the years.
